Three varieties of Storm Petrel (Least, Leach's and Black) on San Benito Island.

In the soft ground of the San Benitos Islands, sea birds nest in thousands of holes.

The estimated number of Shearwater, Auklets, Murrelets and Storm Petrels

in these island is over 2.5 million, making them the most important nesting islands

between Alaska and the Galapagos.
