DAY 1

7:00 am - We will pick the members of each trip at a convenient location next to the border. There is a parking lot on the US side with 24 hour security. We will take you across the border in our transportation and get your tourist permits ($24 dlls). We will travel 2 hours south to Ensenada airport, where we will fly for another 2 hours to Guerrero Negro town.

12:00 – 1:00 pm. The hotel transportation will be waiting for us and will take us to the Hotel Los Caracoles. After arrival we will spend the afternoon in the hotel, have dinner, and Jose, your guide, will provide an informative talk on Gray Whales and whale watching, the lagoons of Baja, and the environment of Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve. Jose was involved in creating regulations for the Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve in the early 1980s, through recommendations based on his research on Pacific Gray Whales and the eco-system of the area.

DAY 2, 3, (and 4)

7:00 – 8:00 am. After breakfast, we will go on our first whale watching trip to one of the 3 different observation areas of the lagoon. The site of whale watching for the consecutive days will be decided depending on weather conditions, availability of boats, and early arrangements.
-Lunch will be provided in the trip between our two daily outings. We will return in time for dinner. We will also offer snacks and bottled water.

RETURN DAY

7:00 am. The return trip will be Guerrero Negro to Ensenada airport (2.5 hours), and the van from Ensenada to the border (2 hours), get across the border (between 1 and 2.5 hours) and to San Diego to your hotel. Expect to arrive to our departure place around 3:00 pm. If you have other travel arrangements we recommend you make your reservations to leave at 6 PM or later, as the border crossing time is unpredictable.
