Fishermen's village on San Benito Island. Fishing is one

of only two industries on Cedros and San Benitos Islands.

The fishing co--op Pescadores Nacionales de Abulon

fishes primarily for Abalone and lobster in season, and in

accordance with government quotas .


Lobster season is from September to mid February.

Abalone season is from December to June.

        

The waters off Cedros and San Benitos teem

with many species of fish year round.  For more

The water around Cedros and San Benitos Islands is nutrient-

rich, thanks to upwellings of cold water from the deep ocean.

This attracts marine creatures from small to large, moving up the food chain.

Many large game fish and mammals are attracted to this area for its

abundant sources of food.
